On the morning of December 8th, 2022, Listan group announced that it has acquired Mountain Global, a peripheral manufacturer best known for their Everest line of keyboards. Frankly speaking, this was an interesting turn of events. There has little to no media surrounding this acquisition, nor any fanfare.
Mountain Global is an enthusiast keyboard manufacturer which was founded by former Cooler Master employees. The company is best known for its Everest Max semi-modular keyboard; a keyboard with a detachable numpad with programmable LED keys and adjust knob called the Media Dock. Beyond this, they’ve also done a refresh with a 60% base instead of a TKL, a mouse series and various other peripheral products.
Listan, meanwhile, is a German company best known for owning the trademarks BeQuiet and Xilence. So far, we’ve seen the more premium products being put under the BeQuiet name, while Xilence has been their budget side since its acquisition in 2013. Both companies sell coolers, cases, fans, power supplies and more.
So far, the Germany-based manufacturer has not had a presence in the peripheral market. Both its brands are primarily focused on producing internal components for desktops such as power supplies and fans. This move was to help Listan establish a strong presence in the peripheral market, considering Mountain has received multiple design awards for its peripherals. Regardless, this deal is still ironic, considering Mountain’s founders were former Cooler Master employees, a major competitor of BeQuiet and Xilence.
The press release did not disclose any kind of fee paid for the acquisition of Mountain, nor has there been any news outlet that reported a potential fee.
