AMD just held their Keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022
Ryzen Mobile 6000 Series
As teased with their CES Innovation Award. AMD is launching their Ryzen 6000 Series mobile APUs today. Based on the Zen 3+ Architecture and manufactured using TSMCs 6nm process. It brings RDNA2 to mobile devices and includes the newest technology such as USB4, WiFi 6E, BTLE 5.2, PCIe 4.0, DDR5 and LPDDR5, as well as a plethora of graphics possibilities with technologies including DisplayPort . Running at a maximum frequency of 5GHz, it is the highest clocking Ryzen processor to date. It also introduces the Pluton security processor by Microsoft to Personal Computers.
The claimed performance uplift delivered by these technologies is 1.3x in single thread performance and 2.0x in Graphics.
The new architecture comes with a plethora of efficiency improvements and innovations. With smarter firmware, more sensors and a new set of deep sleep states, this results in a claimed battery life of up to 24 hours.
The introduction of RDNA2 brings 12 Compute Units and Hardware Raytracing to APUs. With double the L2 cache, 50% more compute units and a 20% increase in frequency with up to 2.4GHz. With DirectX 12 Ultimate and FidelityFX Super Resolution.
Notebooks featuring the Ryzen Mobile 6000 Series will start availability in February.
Radeon GPUs
Radeon 6000S
AMD has added the Radeon 6000S GPUs to their mobile lineup. These GPUs are efficient designs for slim devices. These are the 6600S, 6700S and the 6800S.
Radeon 6000M
Additionally, the M series has been expanded with the 6300M and 6500M for the low end, as well as the 6650M, 6650M XT and 6850M XT for higher performance.
Radeon 6500 XT
AMD also introduced a new discrete Graphics Card based on 6nm. The 6500 XT brings a low end offering with an MSRP of $199. With 2.6GHz it has the highest frequency on a AMD GPU ever, and 16 Compute Units.
Adrenaline and Laptop Design
AMD is bringing their upscaling solution in FidelityFX Super Resolution to Unity and Unreal Engine, as well as integrating Radeon Super Resolution into their Adrenaline Software. This allows a claimed essentially universal support for games.
AMD is also introducing a 5.0 version of their AMD Link App, which allows users to monitor their PC from their phones, as well as bringing a Privacy Function which uses Eye Tracking technology to darken out the parts of your screen which you aren’t looking at.
AMD advantage is a new design guideline for Notebooks. This introduces Smartshift in a Max and Eco version, which dynamically allocates load to the CPU and the GPU. With Smart Access graphics allowing the GPU to directly output video.
Ryzen CPUs
V-Cache
Launching in Spring, AMD is bringing their V-Cache Technology to Desktops in the form of the 5800X3D. Fitting into the AM4 Socket, it boasts 96 MB of L3 cache, 8 cores and a 4.5 GHz boost to take the title of being the fastest gaming CPU to date, per AMD.
Zen 4 Preview
The Zen 4 Architecture based on TSMCs 5nm process has also been teased today.
