Fractal Design made a statement on august 27 regarding the fan hub of their new Torrent case. The company is aware of an issue with the hub after some users reported damage in manufacturing. Users are advised to unplug the fan hub and separate from the case for safety.
Fractal says the issue could potentially cause short circuits, which reminds us of the issue NZXT had with the h1. The statement on Fractal’s website says the company is already working on an updated version to fix the issue. In the meantime, buyers of the case should remove it to avoid further issues with this guide. Replacement kits are offered by fractal to everyone worldwide by filling this form. The case can still be used without the fan hub. Fractal is also working with retailers to halt the sales of faulty units and get them fixed as soon as possible. Refunds are also possible for buyers that don’t want to wait for replacement kits. Updated hubs are estimated to roll out within 2 to 3 weeks according to the case manufacturer.
Althought there are not a lot of reports about the issue, the response from Fractal about it is almost exemplary. The company is going out of their way to make sure the product gets fixed and current faulty units do not get sold. Fractal will frequently update their statement on their site when needed.
